A traditional Nepalese Hanging Diyo (oil lamp) set within a wooden shrine.
This piece heavily reflects the renowned Newari architectural craftsmanship of the Kathmandu Valley, utilizing a hand-carved wooden structure that replicates the pillars and top pinnacles (gajurs) found on historic local temples.
At the center hangs a brass oil basin designed to hold oil and cotton wicks, which are traditionally lit during daily prayers, auspicious ceremonies, and major festivals to symbolize light and prosperity.
